Back to being a kid!

December 18 ,2020

With all the summer holidays round the corner it’s that time when one sets to run down to the muddy garden, pockets filled with the all time favourite @Mattel toys. Setting everyday game plan with lining up the supercars at the edge, dusting it off as the car deserves and then scrolling it safely around the edges of the park. One could deeply enjoy having the selection to an alone time or with friends brawling over their personal favourites and endless playing time till sunny noons.

Sharing that immense excitement of having the Mattel toys just like the glory days, Matchbox toys are back with a bang of extraordinary choices of die cast car models inspired by the recent real time cars brands along with their classics, construction rigs, collector cars, service and rescue vehicles and planes for such junior enthusiasts.

As the story goes back to 1953 as the brand was first introduced by Lesney Products which is now owned by Mattel, Inc, which purchased the brand in 1997. The brand was given its name because the original die-cast Matchboxes were sold in boxes similar to those in which matches were sold.

Jack O'Dell, Co founder of Lesney Products designed his first toy just so that his daughter could carry it to school and it could fit in a "Matchbox" as per school regulations which paved the way for the company’s future success. O'Dell scaled down the crafted version of green the red road roller to 1:75 miniature model, which eventually became brand Matchbox of today. A dump truck and a cement mixer completed the original three model release that marked the starting point for the mass market success of the Matchbox series then.

With Christmas around, we hope to see the junior enthusiasts and auto die cast collectors getting their hands on favourites models and taking them out like the older days rather than being a couch patato and hooked to the console, of course, all while heeding to the prescribed safety norms amidst this pandemic that we find ourselves in.

Here’s something that we managed to shoot the cars reimagining the vibe of the car in the real world to revisit a memory of nostalgia. Rest assured collector enthusiasts can enjoy the video along to set their dream space into something more memorable to relive the glory days.
