There are supercar owners and then there are those who love sharing their passion. Bren Garage is one that counts itself in the latter. Home to the most tasteful cars in the country with variety aplenty right from the classiest GT cars to track weapons and cars that you would drive just for the love of driving. The person behind Bren Garage is Mr. Boopesh Reddy, a Bangalore based entrepreneur who made his fortune in real estate. His Instagram bio describes him as a supercar collector, art enthusiast and a visionary. Well, we see all these three traits in his garage itself which houses art like the Aston Martin DBS and the Ferrari 458 Speciale and then pure enthusiast cars like the Porsche Cayman GT4 and the country’s lone Porsche 911R. When it comes to being a visionary, we needn’t say too much. His Vorsteiner Novara Lamborghini Huracan and TechArt GT Street R do the talking. Cars so rare and tasteful, it takes no less than a visionary to build them. Known to be extremely passionate who knows the in and out of cars, Mr. Reddy is sure one personality with whom every petrolhead aspires to have an interaction with.
The last 24 hours saw Mr Reddy give all petrolheads around India major track day goals as he took a few of his as well as his buddies cars down to the Madras Motor Race Track for a couple of days of track fun. We were privileged to be able to be a part of the action in Chennai and hence it was most fitting to bring you all a glimpse of what went down there. So here is an overview of their day at the races and some images for your viewing pleasure by our partners Phosart Studios.
Starting the main line up of cars present there with the Porsche Cayman GT4. Porsche introduced this hard core version of the standard Cayman back in 2015 featuring a 3.8 litre flat six engine derived from the 991 Porsche 911 Carrera S and was good for 380 hp and 425 nm of torque. Developed by Porsche Motorsport, the Cayman GT4 came only with a three-pedal setup with a stick for total driver involvement. Mr Reddy's philosophy has always been to chase happiness and not lap times making the Porsche Cayman GT4 a perfect car for him. Porsche have also stated that the Cayman GT4 deliberately puts driver enjoyment first rather than chasing raw performance or smashing lap times. This is one car for the true driving enthusiast.
Moving on from one Manual track beast to another, the Type 991 Mark II Porsche 911 GT3 which was also present at the track day. Its highly unlikely that you would wrongly assume the GT3 to be a regular 911 due to its massive rear wing and fender filling wheels and tires as well as that 9000 rpm limit which is absolutely bonkers. This car too was a manual, finished in a stunning shade of GT Silver Metallic.
What’s a track day without a car built for the track? This is why Bren Garage’s brand new Mercedes AMG GTR was in tow as well. Infact it was the first car that went out lapping the track filling the atmosphere up with the siganure AMG V8 growl.
And since one track car is never enough for a track day, Mr. Reddy brought along the TechArt GT Street R for a good measure. This car has been the talk of the town ever since it broke cover about a month ago. Finished in Miami Blue, based on a Type 991 Mark II Porsche 911 turbo S, this is a race car for the road as TechArt calls it. Interestingly, this particular GT Street R is the first and only one built outside of TechArt’s facility in Germany. This car was in the pipeline since a year and was fully built in Bangalore by the crazy chaps at RaceTech India. No mean feat this, only 30 GT Street Rs exist and this one is chassis number 7 which also happens to be the owner’s lucky number. And by far, this has been our most favorite car at the track day and here’s why. The Techart GT Street R and it is every bit as crazy and bonkers as it sounds. The Aerokit package is unmistakably TechArt and made entirely of carbon fibre which makes it incredibly light without compromising on rigidity. It also comes with a high performance exhaust system which compliments the menacing looks perfectly.
Along with the visual upgrades TechArt also offer two drivetrain packages. The first one being a 640hp/880nm package which is a whole 60hp and 130nm more over the standard car but Mr. Reddy's car features the top of line 720hp/910nm drivetrain upgrade which is simply mental. Try getting your head around those figures. the GT Street R is faster to 100kph by 0.2 seconds and has a higher top speed as well at 340kph. And the way it sounds, well you will wet your pants if in it’s vicinity at full chat. This car is oddly is satisfying just to look at and be around. We gnawed down our knuckles looking at this one. Hope the pictures make you do the same.
Apart from there, there was also a Audi R8 V10 in a stunning bespoke matte pearl orange paintjob present along with a Porsche 718 Boxster and a couple of hot hatches in the form of a VW Polo GTi and a MINI Cooper S. A Lamborghini Huracan too joined in later. With such carsand and a bunch of buddies who aren’t afraid of lapping up the track or putting some brisk miles on their supercars, don’t think there can ever be a dull moment and the energy at the pits despite blistering heat was such! Life goals for a car guy. Life goals at it’s best!
A big thanks to Bren Garage for having us over despite being strictly private about their track days and our man, Phosart Studios for these almost obscene photographs! If you are biting down your knuckles hard as you read this, you know whom to blame!
