Stuttgart’s finest automotive work reaches Indian shores.

The 911 GT2 RS is ready to take over the Indian shores!

August 12 ,2018

Fellow petrolheads read that title again and let it sink in. Surely this is a huge deal for the Indian auto industry. It isn’t every day that the fastest 911 ever built finds a home in India. This is a sign of greater things to come, as this is what exposes the Indian auto culture to the world that thinks supercars aren’t meant for India. Moreover, it also speaks highs of the kind of daring drivers our country has. One such example is Boopesh Reddy, more commonly known as @bren_garage on Instagram. Mr. Reddy, is now the proud owner of the country's first 911 GT2 RS. The GT2 joins his fleet of Porsches which include the super-exclusive 911R and the TechArt GT Street R along with a Cayman GT4 and a Cayenne. Now be assured that this beast will be driven the way it is supposed to because if there is anything Mr. Reddy is known for, its to make sure his cars don’t simply sit around.

The GT2 RS is finished in a beautiful Guards Red with black accents, along with magnesium wheels, but here’s the more interesting part. The car itself has been spec'd to the gills, so much so that even the headlamps washers and door handles are painted black from the factory. It also comes with the Weissach package. Now for those of you who don’t know, the Weissach package adds more intensity to the already intense GT2 RS. As Porsche would put it, the Weissach package “stands for lightweight construction and maximum proximity to motorsport” which basically turns this beast into an almost proper racecar for the track and the roll-cage made of titanium reinforces the same. The 700 horsepower flat-six beast holds the No. 2 spot for breaking the Nurburgring lap record at 6:47:3 after the Aventador SVJ. This means that out of the top 3 ‘ring’ record holders, India is home to 2 of them, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS and the Lamborghini Huracan Performante respectively. Furthermore, the GT2 RS features Porsche’s industry-leading PDK transmission and an all carbon body. All that light-weight construction has an enhanced effect due to the absurd 750nm of torque that pushes it from 0-60 in a staggering 2.8 seconds.

Now you might be thinking, “How will the 911 GT2 RS handle Indian roads?” Don’t forget, this car holds the second place record at the ‘ring’ and as you know, the 12 and a half mile track completed with 154 bends and corners has some of the roughest and uneven parts ever seen on any FIA approved racetrack. This means, in order to hold that record the GT2-RS also needs to handle this bumps and patches well. Which is why the GT2-RS is equipped with active suspension management, precisely adjusting each wheel according to the weather conditions and road conditions. To add to it, torque vectoring to calculate exactly how much power is required at each wheel along with rear-wheel steering. All these handling features also pass off as a great way to tackle bad, uneven, rough roads. So basically, the GT2 RS should actually be able to handle Indian roads better than most supercars in India.

A big thanks to Porsche Centre Bangalore and Boopesh Reddy for bringing such a beast to our shores, and helping India make a strong statement about our country's auto industry. As mentioned earlier, India now has 2 of the 3 best production road-going cars in the world. This only proves that Indians are not to be underestimated when it comes to supercars, because regardless of the roads or the economic situation, our country’s enthusiasts, such as Boopesh Reddy will go to any extent to satisfy their need for speed. Surely this eye-catching GT2 RS will snap some necks on the streets of Bangalore. We wouldn’t be surprised to see many more special cars enter our country’s borders.

Signing off with some detail shots of the car up-close for y'all to drool on!
