As the worldwide Porsche 70th Anniversary celebrations happen, Porsche Centre Mumbai too celebrated with a drive and brunch for their customers last weekend. With about 40 cars in attendance including the Macan, Cayenne and Panamera, the cars paraded Mumbai in a convoy. The star of the show was undoubtedly the bright Miami Blue Type 991 Mark II Porsche 911 GT3.
The cars assembled at Sofitel in BKC from where the drive started. The convoy drove through Bandra Reclamation, then the mandatory Bandra Worli Sea Link and proceeded towards Haji Ali, Peddar Road and finally the NCPA from where they drove back to Sofitel via the same route. The colorful lineup was definitely quite a sight on a rather dull morning for Mumbaikars!
It was particularly amazing to see so many Porsche 718s, both in the Cayman and Boxster guise. The 718 has taken off quite well as the entry-level sports car. Despite being a four-pot, in true Porsche fashion, the 718 is quite a driver's machine with everyday practicality owing to ample storage spaces and a compact body which doesn't turn out to be a handful in traffic. Hot hatch of the moneyed, perhaps?! Great seeing Porsche bring in the sports car numbers in a market like India. Hope they continue on this upward ladder that they're on and we see more exclusive Porsches in the country soon!
