You are looking at the Ferrari 488 GTB on Fiorano, the Ferrari test track. The car seems to be quiet for a Ferrari especially when it houses one of their award winning V8 engines. This gives way to the thought that Ferrari is developing a hybrid -powered 488 GTB. The news making rounds is that Ferrari is going to introduce hybrid powered V8 engines and here is the first proof that a hybrid drivetrain is in pipeline and shall be soon be unveiled. We believe that these cars shall be capable of running on electric power alone upto a certain range of distance. A Hybrid Ferraris is rumoured to be on the way for 2019 and is likely to be called the Ferrari 588. You'd better believe it.

Ferrari is also said to be working hard on a multi-engine strategy, as it's forced to squeeze down emissions and boost the mpg of its supercars. Hence the new 2.9-litre V6 engine planned for its 'entry-level' supercar. Some sources from Maranello also suggest that the V6 model could be a short-wheelbase model, effectively splitting the GTB range into two. Inspiration is said to be taken from the Ferrari GTC4Lusso which is available in two engine options V8 and V12. In terms of power sources suggest the bi-turbo V6 will develop up to 600bhp, enough to distinguish it from the Alfa Romeo 2.9 which is ultimately related to the new Ferrari powerplant. And the V8 destined for the 588 is said to be capable of 680bhp, or 720bhp in focused Challenge/Stradale versions. And that's before a hybrid electric pack is bolted on, potentially adding a further 150bhp! The company has to meet stricter emissions regulations when its annual sales passes 10,000 cars - a target it is close to hitting.
